Top 3 Attractions in Saunderstown

  1. Gilbert Stuart Museum
The life and times of Gilbert Stuart came alive during this exceptional tour of his birthplace and the 18th-century grist mill adjacent to it. In 30 minutes, we and our grandchildren learned much about this complex and talented man, the premier portrait artist of his time and the painter of the iconic images we have of George Washington. The setting is beautiful, and the mill pond with its herring run was a revelation. This is a wonderful activity for children and adults alike, and the people who staff the museum and lead the tours are wonderful as well.

  2. Casey Farm
This historic house and property is a hard-worked community sponsored provider of agriculture. Owned by Historic New England, Casey Farm was built in 1725. During the growing season, the Farm is open during the week (make prior arrangements) and every Saturday morning. A spectacular collection of local vendors. Well-run special events; popular site for school visits.

  3. Saunderstown Yacht Club
Beautiful location and views. SYC offers activities for the young and not-so-young: active junior sailing and tennis programs, club sailboat races, and single, double, and mixed tennis tournaments allow the summer months to ebb and flow.
